Many processes need a set temperature: product heated before processing, kept warm so it doesn't thicken, or cooled to stay fresh. A jacketed tank does this without mixing product with the heating medium — heat or cold flows through a jacket around the tank.
Why a dimple jacket?
A dimple jacket is a thin plate formed with dimples and welded to the tank wall. The dimples make the medium swirl for better heat transfer and also stiffen the jacket to handle steam pressure. Compared with a conventional jacket, it is lighter and more efficient.
Common fittings
- Jacket inlet and outlet nozzles for steam/condensate or chilled water.
- Pressure safety valve on the jacket.
- Insulation and stainless cladding to save energy and keep surfaces safe to touch.
- Product temperature sensor for automatic control.
Testing
The jacket is pressure tested to its design before delivery, and the product side is leak tested separately.
